About AGGW

Who we are

Alternative Gifts of Greater Washington, Inc. (AGGW) was founded on the premise that among the most thoughtful gifts you can give someone is a donation to one or more charities in their honor.

Each year we select and help match you with a dozen or more small, locally-based direct-service charities who have each provided a selection of philanthropic gifts you can buy in honor of your favorite people. Alternative gifts fill a direct and tangible need such as one week of school with a daily lunch for a child in rural Northern Ghana, or a journal for a girl to record thoughts, feelings and dreams.

Over the past 24 years, the Alternative Gift Fair has produced over $530,000 for hundreds of small locally-based direct-service nonprofits.
